About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non surgical healthcare discipline focusing on treatment of the human frame with the premise that dysfunction of the spine affects overall health through the nervous system.  Chiropractic is considered complementary or alternative medicine and is the most used discipline of its kind.  The practice of chiropractic is based on health and prevention with an emphasis on function of the body and not just symptom relief.

Misalignment of the joints of the spine, called “chiropractic subluxation,” puts pressure on the muscles, ligaments and nerves of the spine thereby causing poor mobility, weakness, tenderness, numbness and even organ dysfunction.  Symptoms of subluxation can be found both at the site of subluxation and even in the hands and feet depending on the mechanism involved.  Only a Chiropractor is qualified to find and remove subluxation.

Your chiropractic experience will consist of a complete medical history followed by an orthopedic, chiropractic and physical exam to determine the cause of your problem and what will be needed to reach your goals as a chiropractic patient.  Your chiropractor will suggest a treatment plan specifically designed for you. The doctor may choose from a variety of tools including electrotherapies, laser therapy, therapeutic exercises, spinal mobilization, nutritional supplements and chiropractic adjustment to improve your body’s function.  Chiropractic adjustments consist of quick, specific and gentle adjustments made to the bones to allow the joints, muscles and nerves to function better.  Chiropractic is about improving your health and wellbeing and often takes multiple treatments to return to optimal function.
